Local 'psychics' accept challenge of skeptical subversive

In a post on November 2, we discussed our doubts on the remote-sensing and spoon bending tricks played by members of the local Psychic Entertainment Network on ANC. The PEN has invited us to witness their tricks under 'laboratory' conditions or conditions we ourselves will specify so as to preclude any foolishness. Nomer Lasala of PEN has told me that Jaime Licauco will also be invited to vet what should be a public demonstration. We're meeting on Thursday and we'll keep you updated.

"Psychic Entertainment" sounds exciting, almost like science fiction, but more fiction than science. Ma-o bitaw "entertainment" ang gigamit. If they have a network of psychics, how do they contact each other? By text? :)

In the interest of justice -- and due process, fairness and maybe the chance to meet the Avenging Angel of Death in person or persons, you may also want to have involved in your quest for psychic entertainment.

if i was given the chance to also attend this "laboratory test," i'd bring my own set of spoons for the psychics to bend -- the baguio-souvenir wooden wall spoons come to mind :-)

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you sir Viking! :)

It's amusing how people insist on wooden spoons when it's clearly only breakable, not bendable. Wood isn't malleable.

At the same time, it's under the realm of ENTERTAINMENT. If they want to ENTERTAIN people by being/pretending to be psychics, well let them. They're no different from professional wrestlers anyway, and people all know it's a show.

It's when they claim legitimacy and insist people hang onto every word they say that I draw the line, the way "mediums" like John Edward of "Crossing Over" infamy do...

you mean to say Uri Geller is a hoax too? Pity.

Any updates about these so called "psychics"? I think it is a good idea that we provide our own set of spoons, or perhaps why don't they do some thing more drastic like moving an object of any size without any physical contact.

@Skeptic:

Because if you *genuinely* had mental powers, I somehow doubt you can move a car on your own power.

If ever, and that's a big IF, if ever we do have genuine psychics out there, they'd probably be able to only move small objects.

It's cool, but it's not changing the world anytime soon, even if it were true.
